In celebration of National Vo- cations Awareness Week Nov. 1-7, Father Daniel Daza-Jaller, direc- tor of vocations and seminar- ians of the Diocese of Palm Beach, spoke with a variety of individuals living in the vocations of priest- hood, religious life, marriage and consecrated celibacy. According to the U.S. Conference of Catho- lic Bishops, National Vocation Awareness Week is dedicated to promoting vocations to the priest- hood, diaconate and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations. The week-long celebration first began in 1976 when the U. S. bishops des- ignated the 28th Sunday of the year as a day of vocation awareness. In 1997, this celebration was moved to coincide with the feast of the Bap- tism of the Lord, which fell on Jan.

13 in 2013. Beginning in 2014, Na- tional Vocation Awareness Week was moved to the first full week of November. The videos that follow were re- corded by Father Daza-Jaller in ef- forts to make the fostering of voca- tions a constant effort that goes be- yond the designation of one week. These interviews will provide the faithful of our diocese with a more concrete understanding of each of the particular vocations, Father Daza-Jaller said. The hope is that this will encourage more people to say yes to whatever the Lord may be calling them to in life, especially his invitation to holiness.
